Bill loves God’s creation and sharing God’s truths about it, especially with the people of the LORD. As a wrangler and horseman at Philmont Scout Ranch (during the summers while he was in college at LA Tech), he thrilled to working with Scouts, horses and burros – as God taught him so much about life. Also while attending Louisiana Tech, he worked with the youth at Ruston Presbyterian Church (where he and Carol were married by Pastor Jim Lipscomb) and, at pastor Lipscomb’s recommendation, filled the pulpit in a nearby country Cumberland Presbyterian church for several months. Filling church pulpits in Alaska brought even more joy and adventure. Teaching in three Christian colleges and leading Bible studies with prison youth in the Fairbanks Youth Facility, through Servants’ Touch Ministries (STM), were spiritual challenges from God (being on the STM board of directors was a pleasure). God led Bill to follow Paul’s example by not burdening the Christian churches, colleges and other organizations which he served – he did receive gifts but very seldom a “salary.” One of his greatest joys outside family activities was teaching the Bible to college students – sharing the truth of Scriptures has always been his passion.
